Whether you’re seeking a historic oceanfront resort or a luxe private rental, the Tidewater area has something for everyone. Here we recommend some excellent options for those visiting town or locals looking for a staycation. When you book your stay, don’t forget to tell them Scout sent you!

The Historic Cavalier Hotel & Beach Club (4200 Atlantic Avenue, Virginia Beach). The Cavalier Resort is the crown jewel of the Virginia Beach oceanfront. Included on the property are two luxury hotels, The Historic Cavalier Hotel first opened its doors in 1927 and has held pride of place on the oceanfront ever since. The newest property, Marriott Beachfront, offers guests another option with access to the resort’s amazing amenities, including a private beach club, the SeaHill Spa, and multiple restaurants. Mary reports that The Cavalier’s location on the only hill in the relatively flat region, makes it the best place in town to take in views of the Atlantic Ocean, which she recommends you do from an Adirondack chair on the hotel’s sprawling green lawn. She also encourages a stop inside the hotel’s whiskey tasting room, Tarnished Truth Distillery, for a nightcap.

Sandbridge Rental Properties (581 Sandbridge Road, Virginia Beach). Settled in the southern region of Virginia Beach, Sandbridge Rental Properties offers vacation homes and condo rentals (many pet-friendly) year-round. Their selection of luxury home rentals have gorgeous views of the beachfront making it the perfect vacation spot. If you’d like a side of adventure with your vacation, they also book activities such as jet skiing, top golf, and water parks.
